Viña Maquis produced its first wine in 2003. It was to be a world-class wine, a true and exceptional expression of its terroir, a blend made with grapes from small blocks on the Maquis Vineyard. The main components are always Cabernet Franc and Carménère, complemented by Syrah, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, depending on the vintage.
Lien was Viña Maquis’s only wine for five years, and only later, master blender Jacques Boissenot convinced the Hurtado Family to start producing Maquis Franco, later Maquis Viola and then the Maquis grand reserve range. Today the complete Maquis portfolio is available in more than 15 countries around the world.
